Film Unit is an independent, professional quality cinema located in the depths of the University of Sheffield Students' Union. It is a cinema for students, a cinema for the community, a cinema for everyone.
We pride ourselves on our connections and collaborations with student groups and external groups, creating screenings and cinema events that reflect the interests and passions of the people in our Sheffield community.
Film Unit was founded in 1949 and joined the British Federation of Film Societies a year later, making it the longest serving student film society in the whole UK.
In that time it has won many awards including the BFFS award for the Best Student Cinema, no less than four times.
With so much on offer, we hope there will be something here to transport everyone. With standard ticket prices at £3.00, we are an affordable way to enjoy a quality cinema experience.
